Three die in auto accident

September 30, 2008

Three people died as a result of an auto accident that occurred when a mother was taking her two daughters to school, according to KSAT.

The auto accident occurred when the mother drove into the path of a trash collection truck. The woman either tried to beat the truck or did not see it coming, causing the auto accident.

The auto accident victims were 26, six, and nine years old.

Texas auto accidents could occur if drivers pull into the paths of oncoming vehicles.

FDA issues drug warning

September 18, 2008

The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to the Republic of Indiana regarding drugs from Ranbaxy Laboratories, Ltd. due to noncompliance with FDA standards which could lead to drug injuries.

The warning comes after the FDA became concerned with U.S. current Good Manufacturing Practices at the plant which produces generic drugs.

Drugs not approved by the FDA could cause Texas drug injuries to patients.

Clinical study finds Rituxan could cause drug injuries and death

The FDA reported that Genentec issued a warning to health care professionals regarding prescribing information for Rituxan, which was linked in a clinical study to the death of a patient who sustained drug injuries as a result of taking the drug.

The drug injury victim, who had rheumatoid arthritis and was taking Rituxan, became infected with a JC virus which led to progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.

The drug injury victim died as a result of PML 18 months after last taking Rituxan.

This drug injury case led Genentec to issue a warning.

Texas patients with rheumatoid arthritis who are taking Rituxan could be at risk for Texas drug injuries.

FDA warns about Bystolic’s potential for drug injuries

The FDA is warning Forest Laboratories about its promotion of the hypertension drug Bystolic. The FDA says the promotions for Bystolic have failed to include risks for certain drug injuries.

The promotions for the new drug claim that the drug is better than rival drugs, but there is not sufficient evidence to prove that.

The promotions for Bystolic also leave out the potential risk for drug injuries to patients with heart conditions. These drug injuries could include cardiac arrest and chest pain.

Texas patients with heart conditions who take Bystolic could suffer Texas drug injuries such as cardiac arrest and chest pain.

20 medications may be associated with drug injuries

The Associated Press reported that the FDA has released a list of 20 medications that may pose safety concerns such as potential drug injuries for patients.

However, some worry that this list of medications, which does not provide specific information regarding the potential drug injuries or safety concerns of the medications on the list, may cause more harm than good, causing some patients to stop taking medications out of fear.

Two of the medications on the list include heparin and Tysabri.

Without specific information regarding the dangers for drug injuries with the use of these medications, patients may elect stop their prescribed medication regimens and cause drug injuries to themselves.

Texas patients who stop their medication regimens because they fear drug injuries could cause potential drug injuries to themselves by abruptly stopping medications.

Cancer drug does not cause drug injuries after all

HealthDay News reported that contrary to previous reports, a study has revealed that breast cancer prevention drug anastrozole does not cause drug injuries such as cognitive decline as once thought.

The drug which has shown to be effective in preventing cancer regrowth in postmenopausal women was once thought to cause drug injuries such as mental impairment.

This study can provide some relief to Texas patients who had previously been concernment about Texas drug injuries such as mental impairment due to anastrozole.

Drug injuries claim the lives of four

September 2, 2008

HealthDay News reported that four more people have died as a result of drug injuries suffered after taking Byetta, a type 2 diabetes medication.

The news of the deaths comes one week after the FDA announced that two patients had died of drug injuries such as acute pancreatitis which causes nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The four patients who died had additional complicating medical conditions such as leukemia and gallstones, as well as type 2 diabetes, which Eli Lily claims were probably the most likely cause of the patients’ death following their drug injuries.

Patients who have complicated medical conditions in addition to type 2 diabetes and who are taking Byetta could also suffer Texas drug injuries.
