According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there are between 35,000 and 40,000 table saw injuries in the United States every year. The CPSC just unanimously voted to publish an advance notice of proposed rulemaking (ANPR) aimed at improving the safety of table saws, but those regulations have not yet gone into effect.
