A drunken man rear-ended a 36-year-old mother of two less than a block from her home on Saturday morning at 3:30am. The woman had to be cut from her car and rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

According to court documents, the man who caused the Texas auto accident smelled of alcohol and slurred his speech. He was seen at the accident climbing out of his truck and pouring a plastic flask on the ground nearby. He was charged the day of the accident with intoxication assault, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The charges may be upgraded to a more serious charge because the mother died because of the man’s reckless actions.
