We’re right in the middle of pool, boat, and beach season, which means millions of people nationwide have stocked up on sunscreen at the supermarket or drug store. But unfortunately, five popular aerosol sunscreens have been recalled because they contain benzene, a chemical that’s known to be a carcinogen.

The affected and recalled sunscreens include:

  • Neutrogena® Beach Defense® aerosol sunscreen
  • Neutrogena® Cool Dry Sport aerosol sunscreen
  • Neutrogena® Invisible Daily™ defense aerosol sunscreen
  • Neutrogena® Ultra Sheer® aerosol sunscreen
  • Aveeno® Protect + Refresh aerosol sunscreen

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Johnson & Johnson, consumers who purchased any of these five sunscreens should stop using them. However, you shouldn’t stop using sunscreen altogether. Sunscreen is important for reducing the risk of sunburn, which can also increase the risk of cancer and put people at more immediate risk of dehydration and even infection when their burns are severe.

At Ferrer Poirot Feller, our defective product lawyers work hard to hold negligent corporations accountable when their products put innocent people in harm’s way.
