HealthDay News reported that four more people have died as a result of drug injuries suffered after taking Byetta, a type 2 diabetes medication.
The news of the deaths comes one week after the FDA announced that two patients had died of drug injuries such as acute pancreatitis which causes nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
The four patients who died had additional complicating medical conditions such as leukemia and gallstones, as well as type 2 diabetes, which Eli Lily claims were probably the most likely cause of the patients’ death following their drug injuries.
Patients who have complicated medical conditions in addition to type 2 diabetes and who are taking Byetta could also suffer Texas drug injuries.
