The Associated Press reported that the number of drug injuries reported to the government in the first three months of 2008 reached record highs.
Over 21,000 serious reactions that resulted in drug injuries to patients were reported to the Food and Drug Administration in the first three months of this year.
Of the 21,000 reports, 4,800 were fatal drug injuries. The drugs causing most of the drug injuries were Chantix, the new anti smoking drug, and heparin, a blood thinner.
Similar Texas drug injuries may have occurred if patients taking these drugs had serious reactions to them.
