The Associated Foreign Press reported that Sanofi Aventis has halted the sale of its anti-obesity drug Acomplia due to the potential for drug injuries.

The company has halted sales across the European Union because the risk for drug injuries such as psychiatric symptoms has doubled in comparison to the normal risk.

The drug was found to increase the risk of drug injuries due to psychiatric symptoms such as suicidal thoughts, even in patients who have no history of psychiatric symptoms.

The company says that it will not rule out the possibility of a global halt on sales of the potential drug injury caused by Acomplia.

Texas patients who take Acomplia also face an increased risk of suffering Texas drug injuries.
