Workout supplements can provide athletes and those looking to improve their bodies the edge they need to achieve their goals. However, certain types of these supplements could put users’ health in serious danger. The Workout Supplement Lawyers with the law firm of Ferrer Poirot Feller explain such risks recently led to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recalling all OxyElite Pro products from the market.

According to an FDA Press Release, the move came after the agency had uncovered dozens of cases of illness associated with contamination of the product, including several users who had contracted forms of hepatitis and suffered acute liver failure. Officials believe the problems with the product stem from an undeclared ingredient, called aegeline, which was discovered in samples that were tested. Earlier this year, lots of OxyElite Pro were destroyed because they contained another undeclared ingredient called dimethylamylamine, or DMAA. The compound has been found to cause consumers to suffer from heart attacks and seizures that could potentially lead to death.

Officials are calling for all stockpiles of the product to be destroyed and are encouraging anyone who is in possession of the affected product to halt its use and dispose of it immediately.

Ferrer Poirot Feller and their team of Drug Injury Lawyers recognize the risks that are associated with taking certain workout supplements and are here to help anyone who has been harmed as the result of consuming such a product.
