Sometimes the things we’re prescribed to keep us healthy can actually cause injury due to defects.

According to PR NewsWire, American Regent is recalling a medical device because it could cause injuries due to defects in the syringe containing the thiosulfate.

Thiosulfate is used for the treatment of cyanide poison; however, due to the defective glass in the syringe, the syringe could cause defective product injuries to patients.

The syringes are a defective medical device because the glass they are made of separates into thin layers which could cause defective medical device injuries such as swelling, damaged blood vessels, and development of granuloma.
